Two graduate employees from Ernst and Young have been sacked after allegedly accessing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's personal bank account details. According to The Guardian, the pair were on secondment at Commonwealth Bank and used the bank's systems to view the PM's information. Charges have been laid against them.
Prime Minister Albanese said unauthorized access to anyone's privacy is alarming, particularly when perpetrated by contractors without direct employment at the bank. He described the behavior of major accounting firms as completely unacceptable and said his government is accelerating efforts to hold them accountable. Ernst and Young now joins K P M G under government scrutiny for serious breaches.
