Roman Commissioning

NASA Science reports that the Roman Space Telescope, now three months into its trek toward the Sun‑Earth Lagrange point two, has begun the commissioning phase. In this stage engineers are powering up and calibrating its systems, from the solar panels and sunshade that have already deployed to the high‑gain antenna that will swing out in the coming days. Positioned in a halo orbit around L two, the observatory will stay stable and enjoy an unobstructed view of the sky while avoiding thermal interference from Earth, the Sun and the Moon. The team plans to finish these checks over the next several weeks before the telescope starts its scientific observations.
