A pioneering Black physician whose character appears in Laura Ingalls Wilder's original nineteen thirty-five novel, Tann was largely absent from earlier adaptations. Star Jocko Sims, showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine, and costume designer Mitchell Travers reveal how they drew from Wilder's source material and historical research to authentically portray Tann as the skilled physician who safeguarded the Ingalls family. The adaptation marks a creative shift toward recognizing historically overlooked figures.
