Keir Starmer suggests Andy Burnham borrow billions for defence

politics

According to the Guardian, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has suggested his likely successor, Andy Burnham, borrow billions to cover a four point seven billion pound gap in the Defence Investment Plan. The proposal came during Prime Minister's Questions, as opposition leader Kemi Badenoch criticized the investment plan as insufficient. Starmer rejected the criticism, saying he would take no lectures from the Tories. Economists warn that such borrowing would severely limit Burnham's future fiscal flexibility.
