In what sounds like satire but isn't, The Onion and comedian Tim Heidecker have been fighting to acquire InfoWars, the conspiracy platform founded by Alex Jones. According to Variety, the takeover bid began in twenty twenty-four through an auction or bankruptcy proceeding and has triggered legal battles in Texas ever since. The Onion's goal: shut down the platform and replace it with satirical content. Despite the satirical premise, both parties have pursued the bid seriously. Heidecker recently described the two-year legal struggle as difficult, and the acquisition remains pending.
