Trump attorney general plots crackdown on ‘birth tourism’ after supreme court ruling

One day after the Supreme Court reaffirmed birthright citizenship, acting attorney general Todd Blanche announced that federal prosecutors and law enforcement will target so-called birth tourism—visitors, temporary residents, and undocumented immigrants who come to the US to give birth. According to The Guardian, Blanche said the Department of Homeland Security and federal agencies will use visa and application processes to discourage the practice. The announcement comes despite such births accounting for less than one percent of all US babies born yearly.
