Chanel buys historic French shirtmaker Charvet, ending 188 years of independence

According to Channel NewsAsia, luxury group Chanel has acquired Charvet, a historic Parisian shirtmaker that has operated independently for one hundred eighty-eight years. The acquisition gives Chanel deeper access to menswear and brings the world's first specialist shirt tailor into its portfolio of heritage brands.
