U.S. economy added 57,000 jobs in June, less than expected; unemployment rate at 4.2%

The U.S. job market cooled in June. According to CNBC, nonfarm payrolls added fifty-seven thousand jobs last month, falling well short of the expected one hundred fifteen thousand. The unemployment rate did edge down to four point two percent from four point three percent—a modest bright spot in an otherwise subdued jobs report.
