Prime Minister Keir Starmer has apologized to victims of forced adoptions—thousands separated from their children in Britain. While survivors say the acknowledgement is deeply significant, they're demanding more than words: mental health support and concrete remedies. Ann Keen, a former Labour MP, was one of those separated. When she became pregnant at seventeen in nineteen sixty-six, she was sent to an unmarried mother's home. The conditions were harsh and punitive. Now, decades later, she and others are pushing the government to back its apology with action.
