Earlier this month, NASA gave a handful of students their most literal field class yet. Through NASA's Student Airborne Research Program at Ellington Field in Houston, students spent early June aboard research aircraft, learning how scientists collect atmospheric data in real time. The hands-on experience covered everything from air quality monitoring to climate modeling—the kind of early exposure that tends to launch careers in atmospheric science.
