Burnham promises to ease cost of living pressures if he becomes prime minister

According to The Guardian, Andy Burnham, the Makerfield MP expected to become prime minister later this month, has outlined measures to ease cost of living pressures. In his first interview since returning to parliament, Burnham said he would reduce business rates for high street retailers struggling with costs. He's pledged to de-privatize water and energy companies to lower household expenses, and make bus travel free for teenagers aged sixteen to eighteen. The package may additionally include a freeze on private rents. These proposals represent a significant shift toward public ownership and direct intervention in essential services.
