According to court documents obtained by The Guardian, the Christian Brothers Catholic religious order has deliberately kept nine convicted child abusers as members, including one currently imprisoned. The organization cites a Gospel imperative to care for all members and those in need. Documents also show that six months before claiming it lacked funds to pay abuse survivors, the head of Christian Brothers Oceania sought financial support from the Vatican.
