Details of MCG assault against Lidia Thorpe revealed after court lifts suppression order

An Australian court has lifted a suppression order revealing details of an assault on independent Senator Lidia Thorpe. According to The Guardian, Ebony Bell punched Thorpe outside the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2024, reportedly over claims that Thorpe had disrespected her mother. Bell was initially ordered to undertake an anger management course, but committed a second violent act while on bail. The Melbourne magistrate's court ultimately handed her a community work order.
