Salvaged steel and a slice of countryside: Caro sculptures on show in Oxfordshire fields
entertainment
In an Oxfordshire countryside setting where swifts screech and hares graze, an unusual art exhibition is turning industrial relics into striking sculpture. According to the Guardian, the show called Heavy Metal brings together works by Anthony Caro, one of Britain's most significant twentieth-century sculptors, and his successor James Capper. The pieces are fashioned from salvaged steel and machinery parts—reclaimed from factories, shipyards, and farms. It's an unexpected marriage of pastoral landscape and heavy metal: nature's quietude interrupted by bold geometric forms of industrial salvage. The exhibition is free to visit.
