How baby formula recalls have mounted amid Trump staff cuts to the FDA

According to The Guardian, multiple brands of infant formula are under recall due to bacterial contamination, and experts say the Food and Drug Administration is unprepared to manage the risk. The FDA launched Operation Stork Speed in March with the goal of improving access to safe formula, but within two months, the agency lost roughly thirty-one hundred employees as a result of Trump administration cuts and reorganization. The former FDA commissioner warned Congress about the agency's reduced capacity just before stepping down.
