International Red Cross:'Civilian suffering in Sudan is not inevitable'

The International Committee of the Red Cross argues that civilian suffering in Sudan is not inevitable. According to the ICRC's Regional Spokesperson for Eastern Africa, much of the harm over the past three years, since fighting began in Khartoum and continues today in al-Obeid, could have been prevented if combatants respected international humanitarian law.
