Morocco is betting big on the film industry. The government is investing twenty-five million dollars to build a new production hub called the International Cinema City in Ouarzazate, a desert city in southern Morocco. The location has already attracted Hollywood—Ridley Scott filmed "Gladiator 2" there, and other major productions have followed. With this state-of-the-art facility, Morocco aims to compete in global film production. According to Variety, the project is officially under construction.
