London has lost ‘catastrophic’ 89% of car club vehicles since Zipcar exit

business

Zipcar's withdrawal from the United Kingdom market in December twenty twenty-five dealt a devastating blow to London's car-sharing landscape. According to The Guardian, the departure eliminated eighty-nine percent of the city's car club vehicles—leaving just three hundred thirty cars available for rent. Car clubs, which allow drivers to book and unlock parked vehicles through apps, were once London's convenient alternative to car ownership. But Zipcar's exit has forced many residents to consider buying or leasing a car instead, filling a gap the industry has yet to address.
