38 scientists want to ban "mirror life"

According to Boing Boing, thirty-eight scientists are calling for a ban on mirror life — synthetic organisms made from molecules with reversed chirality, the opposite handedness of proteins and DNA found in nature. The concern is stark: these mirror organisms would be invisible to the immune systems of humans, animals, and plants. While still theoretical, the scientists want to establish a ban before the technology advances far enough to create them.
