Verizon is About to Break our Watches

According to a post on LessWrong, Verizon is shutting down Gizmohub, the app that controls Gizmo children's watches, on July sixth. The replacement, Verizon Family, doesn't yet support watch-only accounts—where Gizmo is your only Verizon service. The author described hitting an ineligibility error and spending weeks on support calls that yielded no resolution. Verizon support confirmed the issue affects multiple customers, promised follow-ups, and then went dark. With the deadline over a holiday weekend, parents could lose texting and location tracking by Monday morning.
