Results of a small ZBiotics RCT

health

According to a post on LessWrong, a researcher ran a small single-blind randomized trial of ZBiotics Pre-Alcohol, a commercial hangover-prevention supplement. Out of twenty-eight party attendees who filled out a survey the next morning, nine had taken the real product and nineteen received a placebo. The results were inconclusive — those who took ZBiotics reported slightly worse average hangover symptoms than the placebo group, though the sample was too small to draw firm conclusions. The one variable that clearly correlated with hangover severity was the number of drinks consumed during the party. The researcher has publicly shared the anonymized data and encourages larger follow-up studies.
