Ofsted drops ‘clumsy’ and ‘offensive’ guidance linking autism and extremism

politics

England's school regulator Ofsted has dropped guidance that linked autism to extremism, following pressure from celebrity campaigners. According to The Guardian, a training document used to teach school inspectors included this problematic connection. An education minister acknowledged the guidance was offensive and clumsy. After the public campaign led by figures including naturalist Chris Packham, the updated guidance no longer references children with autism in this context.
