At least 25 people die in US as record heatwave scorches swaths of country

A severe heatwave has killed at least twenty-five people across the United States, according to The Guardian. More than twenty states experienced temperatures above one hundred degrees Fahrenheit as a heat dome blanketed the eastern half of the country during the Fourth of July weekend. The extreme conditions disrupted holiday celebrations nationwide, with over one hundred forty million Americans under active heat warnings. Temperatures set records across the affected regions, with the severe weather attributed in part to climate change.
