Former U.S. Representative Bill Archer of Houston, a Republican who served thirty years in Congress and chaired the House Ways and Means Committee, has died at ninety-eight. According to The Texas Tribune, he was one of the most influential voices on tax policy during his tenure on Capitol Hill.
