business
According to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, investing to make Britain's public transport fully accessible could boost the economy by one hundred seventy-six billion pounds. The current network effectively excludes about two point eight million working-age people from the job market—roughly one in four of the working-age population. When disabled passengers can reliably use transit, more can access employment, increasing tax revenue and productivity. The report frames accessibility as infrastructure investment with significant economic returns.
