Half of affordable new homes in rural England could be at risk if planning rules relaxed, analysis shows

The UK government is considering easing affordable housing requirements for new developments. According to analysis from the National Housing Federation, relaxing section one-zero-six agreements for smaller projects could cost thirty-two thousand homes over the next decade. Rural England faces the greatest risk—up to half of new affordable housing supply there could be lost if ministers approve the plan, a decision expected within weeks.
