Child protection services contacted before four-year-old’s alleged murder as police investigate cannibalism claim

According to The Guardian World, police in New South Wales have charged a woman with murder after the body of a four-year-old boy was found at a home on the Central Coast on Saturday. The state's minister for communities and family, Kate Washington, said the child protection department had received a number of reports about the child before he was allegedly killed by his mother. On Monday afternoon, she announced an independent review into how the case was handled. Police are also investigating a claim of cannibalism connected to the case. The New South Wales opposition has called for a broader review of child protection services.
