‘Five Years, Four Months’ Co-Director Esteban Hoyos García on Urgency of Remembering Colombia’s Disappeared Ahead of Right-Wing Presidency

entertainment

According to Variety, a new film titled 'Five Years, Four Months' grew out of director Juan Miguel Gelacio's encounters with mothers searching for their disappeared sons in Colombia. What he first imagined as a documentary, then a short fiction piece, evolved into a larger project once he brought on Esteban Hoyos García, his co-director on 'Jungle.' Hoyos García frames the film around the urgency of remembering Colombia's disappeared, a subject he ties to the country's political moment ahead of what Variety describes as an incoming right-wing presidency. The film is being spotlighted at the Karlovy Vary festival.
