According to Meduza, Russian forces struck Kyiv early on July sixth with ballistic missiles and drones — the second such attack on the capital in a week. Ukraine's Air Force command reported that sixty-eight missiles and more than three hundred fifty drones, including decoys, were launched across the country, with Kyiv the primary target. Air defenses were unable to intercept any of the twenty-three ballistic missiles or six Zircon missiles, and a spokesperson said Ukrainian forces lack sufficient interceptors for their Patriot systems. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported eleven people killed and forty-six wounded, with buildings damaged across four districts and the heaviest destruction in Podilskyi. Officials cautioned the toll is not final, as rescue operations continue. July seventh has been declared a day of mourning in the city.
