According to Variety, the Venice Film Festival is bestowing its twenty twenty-six Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement on George Clooney. The honor recognizes a career of unusual breadth: Clooney has received Oscar nominations in six different categories—best picture as a producer, best director, best actor, best supporting actor, best original screenplay, and best adapted screenplay. Only two other people in history have matched that distinction.
