Import AI 464: Fables writes GPU kernels; AI automation; and analog computation

According to Import AI, Jack Clark's research newsletter, the latest issue spotlights a striking milestone in AI automating its own development. Clark reports that Fable, an AI system, wrote what he calls the first genuine — and fastest — megakernel ever, a piece of GPU code that squeezes more performance out of the hardware. He frames it as an early hint of broader automation of AI research and development, even the beginning of what researchers call a recursive self-improvement loop, where AI systems help build better AI. The issue also touches on AI automation more broadly and on analog computation as an alternative approach to processing.
