According to France 24, former prime minister Edouard Philippe has officially launched his campaign for France's 2027 presidential election, becoming the first candidate to explicitly declare his run. He enters the race nearly a year out, and current polls give the right-wing ex-PM the strongest chance of any mainstream contender to defeat the far right at the ballot box.
