Avignon turns 80: Wagner Moura, Isabelle Huppert attend France's oldest theatre festival

According to France Twenty-Four, the Avignon Festival is celebrating its eightieth anniversary. The storied performing arts event is drawing international star power this year—Brazilian actor Wagner Moura and French actress Isabelle Huppert headline productions. Organizers have chosen Korean as the festival's language of honour and programmed a special focus on Mediterranean artists. But Avignon's reach extends far beyond the main venue: the festival's fringe program, known as the 'off,' features more than one thousand seven hundred shows staged throughout the city in public spaces.
