According to The Guardian, a wave of Russian missile and drone strikes hit across Ukraine, killing at least twenty-one people and heavily damaging apartment blocks and other buildings. The Guardian reports fifteen people were killed in Kyiv, Russia's main target, and fifty-six others were injured, according to the city's administrative head. Another six people were killed in the wider Kyiv region, with twenty-one injured. The attack came on the eve of a Nato summit in Turkey, and Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called for what he described as strong decisions at the talks, as the strikes exposed widening gaps in Ukraine's air defences.
