Visioning: Concretely Imagining What You Want
other
According to LessWrong, a practice called 'visioning' — concretely imagining detailed fantasies of better futures or worlds, often completely unrealistic — can help people reconnect with what they truly want. The authors describe visioning not as step-by-step planning, but as naming amazing things you'd want if you could have anything at all. Examples range from snowy forests lit by lanterns to genetically engineered monsters in underground labyrinths. The practice, which emerges from childhood imagination that most people abandon as they age, reportedly makes people more creative, more energized, and more agentic. If you've found yourself living by rote, grinding through work or principles without feeling alive, visioning might help you find yourself again.
