According to Meduza, the search for two twelve-year-old girls who vanished in the Russian city of Kyzyl has now stretched into its fifth day. The girls left home on the evening of July first and never returned. Surveillance cameras captured them walking toward the embankment of the Yenisei River and a nearby dam, but their movements after that remain unknown. More than seven hundred volunteers have joined the effort, alongside police, Emergency Situations Ministry personnel, dog handlers, divers, and a paddleboard team. Investigators say drowning has emerged as the leading theory.
