The proposal comes from the Scottish National Party, whose national council passed a motion to freeze all new datacentre projects in Scotland. That motion has now been sent to the government to consider. If adopted, it would put Scotland's stance directly at odds with Westminster's push to expand the computing infrastructure that powers AI.
