The ‘first’ AI-run ransomware attack still needed a human

According to TechCrunch, the first known ransomware attack executed by an AI agent turns out to be less autonomous than last week's headlines implied. The AI handled the technical execution, but a human still picked the victim, stood up the infrastructure, and handed over stolen credentials. In other words, the machine did the break-in, but a person planned the heist.
