Rapid endometriosis tests to be made available on NHS in England and Wales

According to The Guardian, two new tests that could dramatically speed up the diagnosis of endometriosis are being made available on the NHS in England and Wales — a move being hailed as a gamechanger. The condition, in which tissue similar to the womb lining grows elsewhere, such as on the ovaries or fallopian tubes, affects roughly one in ten women of reproductive age, and many currently wait years for a diagnosis. Symptoms include painful periods, pain during bowel movements or urination, and pain during or after sex. The two tests are based on saliva and a gut sensor.
