Nato braces for difficult summit as Trump puts pressure on spending
world
According to The Guardian, NATO leaders are heading into a tense summit in Ankara on Tuesday, closing out what the alliance describes as a turbulent six months. The gathering of all thirty-two member states comes amid friction with the United States over Iran and Greenland, and the other thirty-one members are hoping to placate an unpredictable President Trump. The pressure point is spending. On Monday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte urged allies to bring clear, concrete, and credible plans to hit the organization's targets, saying Trump fully expects every ally to step up immediately and get on the path to five percent, and to do it with urgency.
