Fights are breaking out at Russia’s gas stations as the fuel crisis spreads

world

According to Meduza, Russia's spreading fuel crisis is boiling over into brawls at gas stations. Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil facilities have choked supply, leaving drivers waiting hours to fill up. Tempers flare when people try to cut the line, and the friction is sharper because some stations are loosely applying rules that give priority to official vehicles. In several regions local officials have started jumping the queue, and in Chita, participants in Russia's invasion of Ukraine and their family members were added to the list of those exempt from waiting. The result, Meduza reports, is widespread public anger as the shortages ripple across the country.
