New York man sues ICE for sending officers to his house after he emailed agency head

politics

According to the Guardian, an upstate New York resident sued Immigration and Customs Enforcement after federal officers showed up at his home. David Streever, a U.S. citizen, had sent an email in January to the agency's then-acting director criticizing an immigration officer who fatally shot Minneapolis resident Renee Good during an anti-ICE demonstration. Months later, while Streever was traveling in Finland, ICE officers appeared at his Rochester home and presented his wife with a warning notice—stating that his email was considered a threat. Now Streever is suing the agency, arguing the visit was government retaliation for his protected speech.
