Prince Harry and other claimants lose case against Daily Mail publisher – latest updates
world
According to The Guardian, Prince Harry and six other claimants have lost their High Court case against the publisher of the Daily Mail. In a four hundred thirty-six-page judgment, Mr Justice Nicklin ruled that the claimants — who also included Elton John and his husband David Furnish, actors Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost, campaigner Doreen Lawrence, and former Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes — had failed to prove their allegations of unlawful information gathering against Associated Newspapers. The judge said the court rejected attempts to prove the claims by broad inference where a lawful source for the information remained realistically possible, or where the evidence did not establish that it must have been obtained unlawfully. He added that the claimants were bound by the cases they had originally pleaded and could not swap in different, more serious allegations at trial. The claims were dismissed.
