Syria's reconstruction and economic policy will rely on Europe and Turkey

According to France 24, French President Emmanuel Macron has become the first Western European leader to meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus, a landmark visit for the country's post-Assad era. At the center of the trip is a single question: how can Syria rebuild after years of war? Marc Pierini, a visiting scholar and former EU ambassador to Syria and Turkey, told the network that the answer will lean heavily on Europe and Turkey to anchor the country's reconstruction and economic policy.
