According to The Guardian, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage plans to quit as a member of parliament but stand again, saying the people of Clacton should be the judges of his actions. Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey is urging that the resignation be blocked until an inquiry into a five million pound donation is finished. Asked whether the parliamentary standards commissioner should investigate Farage's gifts from George Cottrell, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said that was a matter for the commissioner, and warned she would be worried about a Reform government using state power to control the press.
