No stopping Le Pen? French appeals court clears way for 2027 presidential run
politics
According to France 24, a French appeals court has cleared a path for Marine Le Pen to make a fourth run at the presidency. Le Pen had been convicted over a scheme funnelling European Parliament staff funds to her far-right National Rally party, a case that carried thirty months of ineligibility to hold public office. The appeals court cut that penalty in half, and France 24 reports the reduction makes it possible for her to launch a bid in the 2027 presidential election, now less than three hundred days away.
