Arizona toddler declared dead after near-drowning was alive for hours in ‘cold room’, records say

According to The Guardian, newly released police records describe a disturbing case out of Gilbert, Arizona. A toddler who was declared dead after being pulled from a backyard pool in February was, in fact, still alive — and was found hours later in a room the hospital uses as its morgue, sometimes called the cold room. Two Gilbert police officers reported seeing possible signs of life multiple times. Even so, after hospital staff treated the child, he was moved to that cold room. The documents raise serious questions about how the child was assessed and declared dead.
