Labour calls on Farage to ‘come clean’ over £5m gift and work with crime agency over money laundering concerns - UK politics live
politics
According to The Guardian, Labour is calling on Nigel Farage to "come clean" over a five-million-pound gift and to cooperate with the National Crime Agency amid money laundering concerns. The Guardian reports the donation, from a cryptocurrency billionaire, was flagged to the agency by bankers who worried it may have been laundered money. The Reform UK leader is awaiting a ruling from the standards commissioner on whether failing to declare it broke parliamentary rules. Yesterday Farage said he would resign his Commons seat to fight a byelection in Clacton, hoping a decisive win would undercut the inquiry. But the main parties quickly said they would not contest it, dismissing the vote as a stunt, with the Liberal Democrats declaring "the game is up."
