Virgin Media fined £28m for preventing customers from cancelling contracts
business
According to The Guardian, the UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has fined Virgin Media twenty-eight million pounds for repeatedly stopping customers from cancelling their contracts. It's the largest consumer protection fine Ofcom has ever handed down. Investigators found that between early twenty twenty-two and autumn twenty twenty-four, the company likely mishandled millions of phone calls, using tactics like deliberately dropping calls, making unnecessary transfers, and putting customers on hold for, in the regulator's words, no reason.
