Virgin Media fined record £28m for stopping customers cancelling contracts
business
According to The Guardian, Virgin Media has been hit with a record twenty-eight million pound fine by the UK telecoms regulator Ofcom for repeatedly blocking customers who wanted to cancel their contracts. Ofcom found the company likely mishandled millions of phone calls between early twenty twenty-two and autumn twenty twenty-four, using tactics like deliberately dropping calls, transferring customers unnecessarily, and putting them on hold for, in the regulator's words, no reason. It's the largest consumer protection penalty Ofcom has ever issued.
